- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground paprika
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 4 pita bread or flatbreads
- 1 cup garlic sauce
- 1/2 cup chopped parsley (for garnish)
- Sliced tomatoes (for serving)
- Sliced cucumbers (for serving)
Instructions
- Combine olive oil, cumin, paprika, turmeric, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Add the chicken thighs and coat well with the marinade. Marinate for at least an hour or overnight.
- Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated chicken for 5-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked and browned.
- Allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes before slicing into strips.
- Warm the pita or flatbreads in a pan or oven until pliable.
- Assemble the shawarma by placing sliced chicken in warmed pita, drizzling with garlic sauce, and topping with parsley, sliced tomatoes, and cucumbers.
