Description

This moist and delicious chocolate banana bread is perfect for using up ripe bananas. It’s rich, chocolatey, and a family favorite!


Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas (mashed)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup melted butter (or coconut oil)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth but slightly chunky.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar. Add in eggs, vanilla extract, and mashed bananas; mix well.
  4. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir gently until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Let it cool before slicing.

Notes

  • This bread is best enjoyed on the same day it’s baked, but can be stored for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
  • For an extra touch, sprinkle some chocolate chips on top before baking.
