Description

Delicious homemade maple glazed donuts that are easy to make and incredibly tasty.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan with nonstick spray or melted butter.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together brown sugar, egg, milk, sour cream, vanilla extract, and melted butter until smooth.
  4. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  5. Spoon or pipe the batter into the donut pan, filling each mold about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the donuts spring back when touched.
  7. Let cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. To make the glaze, melt butter and maple syrup in a saucepan over medium heat.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar until the glaze is smooth and pourable.
  10. Dip the tops of each donut into the glaze, then return to the rack and let the glaze set for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Store the donuts in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
  • Add more cinnamon to the glaze if you like a spiced flavor.
