Description
A delicious and fragrant rice dish made with Basmati rice and green peas, perfect as a side or main dish.

- 1 cup Basmati Rice (Rinsed and soaked for 30 minutes)
- 1 cup Green Peas (Fresh or frozen)
- 2 medium Tomatoes (Chopped)
- 1 medium Onion (Finely chopped)
- 2 tablespoons Oil (Vegetable or ghee)
- 1 teaspoon Ginger-Garlic Paste
- 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
- 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
- 1 teaspoon Salt (Adjust to taste)
- 2 cups Water
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pot over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute until fragrant.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
- Add green peas, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the soaked rice and gently mix to combine.
- Pour in water, bring to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to low. Cook for 15-20 minutes until rice is tender.
- Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
Notes
- This recipe can be made with either fresh or frozen green peas.
- Adjust the amount of salt according to your taste.
- Letting the rice sit after cooking helps enhance the flavors.
